A young boy stands at the edge of innocence, cloaked in pants far too large — a garment heavy with meaning. His arms are raised in a quiet, unbothered defiance, meeting the viewer with a gaze that is both tender and unflinching. The fabric swallows his frame, but not his presence.

Big Boy Pants reflects the early expectations placed on Black youth — to grow up fast, to carry burdens before they're ready, to wear the weight of manhood while still inhabiting the fragility of boyhood. The oversized trousers become a visual heirloom — not just passed down, but imposed.

In the language of Heirlooms of Us, this painting holds space for the unspoken moments between childhood and responsibility. It asks what is inherited when the world demands you be more than your age, and what resilience is born in the folds of that pressure.
